Club mathematica is one of the most prominent and actively functioning clubs of National Institute Of Technology Calicut.
With its foundation laid in the early 2000's, the club keep flourishing year by year because of the strong passion and determination of its members.
Club Mathematica has been helping young minds improve their logical reasoning skills and to think out of the box, guiding them to explore math like never before.
Providing a platform for students to grow beyond academics in all of its ventures, Club Mathematica has constantly proved its excellent work each time.
Infinitum is an annual inter-school quiz competition that evaluates the logical and reasoning skills of students , providing them a memorable experience infused with fun and healthy competition. Taking its roots in 2011 as a small endeavour in Calicut,
Infinitum has now expanded its realm to all zones of Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and even to UAE! Following the preliminary rounds, the best of the lot is screened out for the Winner title by competing against each other in the district and state level competitions.
Speranza was a fun-filled and exhilarating event conducted as an entertaining online inter-branch competition exclusively for the first year students of NIT Calicut, where the contestants from each branch battle against each other to prove their mettle.During the challenging period of a
frightful pandemic, the club stepped up, proving to make the best out of every opportunity, by hosting Speranza in an exciting virtual concept as its first ever fully online event. Moreover, Speranza served a greater good by raising funds for Kerala Government's CoVID relief fund.
Launching its first edition in 2019, Locus emerged as a technical summit that explores the richness in mathematics. Comprising of interactive sessions, workshops and intriguing lectures, Locus helped give students an insight on Cryptography,
Machine Learning, Vedic Mathematics, Finance Modelling and various other concepts, providing a platform for technically driven students to expand their horizons and sharpen their skills.
Apart from these mega events, Club Mathematica is a part of various other initiatives that provide a platform for school and college students to unravel their logical reasoning skills and encourage their critical thinking. From conducting regular mock tests for aspirants of CAT, GMAT and GATE in our college to partnering with other clubs to host the Technical Week conducted exclusively for first years, we have proved our excellence in hosting academic and non-academic events. Keeping in mind our motive to foster innovation, we coordinate games including Drop the Egg, Auction, Geometric Charades and MathBlood to test the participants' modelling, bargaining and analytical skills, and top it off with the final flourish-Minute to Win It, that encourages participants to work as a team for a single cause.
